Matched with a family in Southeastern VA?  GREAT!

I'm glad you're matched with (or considering matching) with a family in this area.  Virginia Beach and Norfolk aren't big cities like Chicago or DC, but we do have lots of history, fun, entertainment, and culture. 

To begin with, Virginia Beach is the largest (both in size and population) city in Virginia.  We are 1 hour from historic Williamsburg and awesome theme parks like Busch Gardens and WaterCountry USA.  We are 3 1/2 hours from Washington DC, and we have overnight buses that will take you to and from New York roundtrip for about $50.  Plus we have the BEACH.  This is one of the most popular tourist locations on the East Coast.  We have tons of things going on, particularly during the summer.  Check out the Events Page these are just some of the local events going on every weekend; that doesn't count the clubs, concerts, and outdoor activities.

Entertainment and Culture?

Virginia Beach has:  19 movie theaters, over 2,000 restaurants, 37 bars, 35 golf courses, 41 libraries and 5 museums.

Like History?

400 years ago the first English settlers landed in VIRGINIA BEACH.  We have a State Park called "First Landing" where they arrived.  Then the settlers moved up to Jamestown, which is only an hour away.  There is tons of historical information about the US right here in Virginia Beach and in the Hampton Roads area.

Our group?

Right now we have about 20 families in Virginia Beach and Norfolk.  Chesapeake has another LCC group and so does Suffolk, both are very close to us.  Also there is another group up on the Peninsula and Williamsburg.  We get together with these groups every few months so you have lots of people to network with in the area.
