Welcome to the Program

Welcome to Cultural Care Au Pair Hampton Roads.  After numerous years as an LCC and as a host Mom, I'm excited to share with you the fun process of finding, preparing, and sharing a year (or 2) with an au pair from another country.

There are many aspects of this process that can seem 'foreign' or 'daunting', don't worry, we were all new host families at one point and we are here to help you.  If you have any questions through the process, please call me, my number is below.  Even if you think it is a question no one has ever asked, I've talked to hundreds of families about au pairs, and I've probably heard it.

I've set up this website to be a first step in helping you learn more about the program.  Cultural Care also has a great website www.culturalcare.com and they will be sending you information and booklets in the mail.  One great source of information is your HOST FAMILY HANDBOOK.  Please read through this because it answers lots of questions you might have, and others you may not have even thought about.

Remember, have fun, get the family involved, embrace this for the cultural experience it can be, not just for the childcare.  Your introducing your children to people around the world with whom they may keep in contact with for the rest of their lives.  The au pairs not only provide you with 45 hours of childcare, but also provide your children with a face, language, and cultural customs from somewhere else in the world.  It is fun!

I'll be talking to you through the matching process, visiting your home to tell you more about the program, and coming to visit after your new au pair has arrived.  I'll also be contacting you monthly by phone or email to see how things are going, this is for your benefit, not to be intrusive.  Please make sure to keep my number and this website handy in case you have other questions.

I'm looking forward to working with you!

Sincerely,

Tanya Eldert
